Rosalie Thomass to Assume Role of 'Tatort' Inspector in Franconia Region - Rosalie Thomass assumes role as Commissioner for the "Criminal Investigation" in Franconia
It's clear as day that 37-year-old Rosie Thomass's excitement about joining the Franconia "Tatort" team is as genuine as her raucous on-screen performances: "These guys are the fucking finest," she smirked, channeling her inner Franconian dialect. "I'm damn proud to be part of this top-tier crew!"
Thomass slides into the late Dagmar Manzel's badass boots, who's been kicking ass as Commissioner Paula Ringelhahn since 2015. Manzel's decided to kick it old-school with a focus on theater after delivering a shining swan song in her tear-jerking farewell episode. With Thomass taking the reins, she leaves behind one fierce successor who's got the chops to prove it.
Thomass made her mark back in 2005 with her breakout role in the BR police thriller "110" under the watchful eye of film legend Dominik Graf. She raked in countless accolades for her performance, and went on to win big at the Bavarian Film Awards and the Grimme Prize for her roles in "Greetings from Fukushima" (2016) and "An Unheard Woman" (2017). With her comedic chops on full display in the "Kangaroo Chronicles" adaptations, she's more than equipped to tackle the Franconian "Tatort."
Bye-Bye to the "Tatort" OGs
The ARD's "Tatort" universe is currently in a state of turmoil. This isn't your ordinary "who's gonna be the new kid in town?" upheaval: an unprecedented number of long-standing investigator roles – some of the most coveted TV gigs in Germany – are shaking hands with the exit door all at once. Miro Nemec and Udo Wachtveitl, the Kempten "Tatort" duo known for their 27-year run as Batic and Leitmayr, are passing the baton to Carlo Ljubek and Ferdinand Hofer, who's been a trusted hand as an assistant. The Frankfurt pair, Melika Foroutan and Edin Hasanovic, are already filming their debut epics. It's unclear who'll step into Karoline Schuch's shoes as Kiel's new Borowski, set to debut in the fall. The Austrian rings are still empty.
Thomass will make her on-screen debut as Chief Inspector Emilia Rathgeber once shooting wraps up this summer. Claudia Luzius, the responsible BR editor, called her partnership with Thomass "a crime-solving dream team." But "Tatort" fans might have to chew on their popcorn a bit longer, as Fabian Hinrichs' hotshot solo turn as Felix Voss in episode 11 keeps them waiting.
