The New Sheriff in Franken's Town: Rosalie Thomass Takes the Helm
Rosalie Thomass assumes commissioner role. - Rosalie Thomas assumes the role of Commissioner
Get ready for some serious crime-fighting action in Franken, Germany! The Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation has announced that Rosalie Thomass (37) will be taking over as the lead investigator starting July 2025. Emma Rathgeber, her character, will be the new face of the investigation team. "I can't bloody wait for this new gig," Thomass exclaimed, channeling her quintessential Franconian charm.
This top-notch investigative squad will include Fabian Hinrichs (born 1974), who'll continue his detective work as Chief Inspector Felix Voss. They'll be joined by Eli Wasserscheid (46) as Commissioner Wanda Goldwasser, Stefan Merki (born 1963) as Dr. Kaiser, Matthias Egersdörfer (55) as Michael Schatz, and Lisa Sophie Kusz (born 1984) as Esmeralda Schmuck, all varying in experience and expertise.
One Man's Squad Before New recruit
Before the charming newcomer joins the team, Hinrichs as Voss will be on his own for a while. The upcoming eleventh "Tatort" from Franken, titled "I see you," was filmed in November/December 2024 and is slated to air in autumn 2025.
Once Thomass makes her debut, the twelfth Franconian "Tatort" will be her first case.
Rooted, Sincere, and Justice-loving Detective
Bettina Ricklefs, BR program director for drama, film, and series, is overjoyed about the addition of Thomass to the "Tatort" team: "We're bloody ecstatic to have an incredible actress like Rosalie Thomass joining our 'Tatort' Franken team." Ricklefs shares that in her role as Chief Inspector Emilia Rathgeber, Thomass embodies an investigator with "grounded roots" and a "sincere heart that beats wildly for justice."
Thomass herself is thrilled about the opportunity to develop her character from the ground up: "I'm stoked to be invited to create my character from scratch. Alongside my curious, vivacious, and empathetic Emmy, I'm pumped for many adventures, and I've got a strong feeling that Franken will become a bloody great second home for both of us."
From Comedy Queen to Crimefighter
A multiple award-winning actress, Rosalie Thomass, entered the world of entertainment through the cult comedy "Emily wants to die" (2003). She later landed roles in drama series like "Polizeiruf 110: He should be dead" (2005) by Dominik Graf (72) and Marcus H. Rosenmüller's (51) trilogy "Best Time," "Best Region," and "Best Chance" (2007-2014).
Thomass has also starred in cinema comedies like "A whole hot number" (2011, 2019) and Doris Dörries' (70) "Greetings from Fukushima," for which she received the Bavarian Film Prize in 2016 and was nominated for the German Film Prize. Her portrayal in "An extraordinary woman" (2016) earned her the German Acting Award, and she's made memorable appearances in "The Kangaroo Chronicles," "Murder Night," and "What can be seen from here."
Upcoming projects include embodying Barbara Blocksberg in the new "Bibi Blocksberg" cinema film in December 2025, and starring in the film adaptation of "Lies about my mother" in 2026, which she herself penned the screenplay for.
