Rory McIlroy Completes Career Grand Slam at The Masters
Rory McIlroy made golfing history at The Masters, securing his career grand slam. Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler dominated the Majors, winning two and finishing 21 strokes ahead of his nearest rival.
McIlroy's victory at Augusta National was the year's most memorable moment. The Northern Irishman joined an elite group of golfers to achieve the career grand slam.
Scheffler, meanwhile, had a remarkable Major season. He won the PGA Championship with an 11-under total and the Open Championship with a 17-under-par score. The American finished 4th at The Masters and 2nd at the US Open, amassing a total of 32-under-par across the 16 rounds. His average of two-under-par per day was exceptional. Scheffler's streak of making his last 14 Major cuts is only surpassed by Xander Schauffele. Matt Fitzpatrick and Tyrrell Hatton were the only other men to finish under par in all four Majors.
Scheffler's two Major victories made him the most successful male golfer of the year. He finished 21 strokes ahead of his nearest challenger. Schauffele came 3rd with a 10-under-par total across the Majors.
McIlroy's career grand slam was the year's highlight, but Scheffler's dominance in the Majors was unmatched. With two wins and a 21-stroke lead over his nearest rival, Scheffler has established himself as a force to be reckoned with in golf.
