Roommate Conflict Escalates, Causes Catastrophe

On April 25, the Holy Cross Residence Hall Association hosted a unique event - the Battle of the Roommates. This competition, reminiscent of the Colosseum, attracted thousands of spectators to witness the battle between roommates armed with an array of weapons such as spears, armor, crossbows, longbows, guns, cannons, swords, daggers, and catapults.

The event saw an unexpected turn of events when Failenn Fitzpatrick '27 emerged victorious, earning herself a Nintendo Switch as her prize. However, her victory was short-lived as she slipped on a banana peel immediately after her win, leaving her currently in recovery.

During the event, Caitlin Wiffler '27 noticed a man sitting alone at a long table. Contrary to initial assumptions, he was not eating alone. The man was vaguely known, adding an element of intrigue to the event.

Sabrina Sullivan '27, another participant, was surprised by the unexpected battle. She shared, "I thought it was just a social event, but I was wrong. It was a real battle out there!"

Despite the event resulting in many roommates being maimed and impaled, they are expected to recover. The atmosphere was lively, with Cool Beans distributing popcorn for the watchers and tomatoes to throw at the roommates, adding an element of fun to the competition.

The event was inspired by the movie Gladiator, with the host channeling the spirit of Maximus Decimus Meridius. Despite the event's unconventional nature, it seems to have been a hit among the students, with some even seeking temporary parking passes on campus to attend future events.

As for Parents Weekend, the top 10 activities include listening to dad talk, a trip to Walmart, and waiting an hour at the bookstore. However, the event that took place on April 25, the Battle of the Roommates, is sure to be a memorable one for the Holy Cross community.

It is important to note that without direct information or official Holy Cross Residence Hall Association sources, any precise description of the event's backstory and rules cannot be confirmed or detailed here. For authoritative details, contacting Holy Cross's Residence Life office or Residence Hall Association directly would be the best course. Thousands of dollars of debt from parking fines are reported on the Holy Cross Website, so remember to be mindful of parking rules during future events.

The Battle of the Roommates, which was a hit among students, not only showcased the competitive spirit of the students but also provided a platform for entertainment, with popcorn distributed by Cool Beans and tomatoes to throw at the competing roommates. Despite its violent facade, the event's unconventional nature, reminiscent of movies like Gladiator, had students clamoring for temporary parking passes on campus to attend future such events. Meanwhile, the upcoming Parents Weekend activities may not be as action-packed as the Battle of the Roommates, but it is sure to be memorable for the Holy Cross community.
