Roof blaze erupts, causing flames to spread rapidly
Neuss Bonfire Mischief
In the early hours of Sunday morning (24.03.), a rogue bonfire party lit up the soccer field at Broichstraße, Evinghoven. Crackling flames under the open sky soon attracting attention from the locals and authorities, who arrived around 7:30 AM.
Apparently unchecked and wild, the bonfire had already spread to one of the wooden side walls, leaving charred patches on a nearby structure. Upon arrival, firefighters and police found the scatter-brained perpetrators had high-tailed it from the scene.
Detectives are now digging into the circumstances surrounding a peculiar green tent found on site, belonging to a yet-to-be-identified owner. If you've got your eyes and ears open, be on the lookout and give the boys in blue a shout-out at Criminal Investigation Department 11 at 02131 300-0.
