Romantic Serenades: Love Ballads at the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf
In the heart of Düsseldorf, the Kleines Haus on Gründgens-Platz played host to an enchanting evening of love songs, as the Düsseldorf Schauspiel students presented their revue, "In My Head is a Roller Coaster."
The performance, which took place without the presence of an intendant or press team, was a captivating blend of intensity, humour, melancholy, and glamour. The title of the revue is a song by Helene Fischer, lending a touch of familiarity to the proceedings.
The students who graced the stage included Orlando Lenzen, Michael Fünfschilling, Sarah Steinbach, Elias Nagel, Charlie Schülke, Luise Zieger, Roman Wieland, and Jule Schuck. Each performer brought their unique flair to the production, delivering a diverse and engaging show.
Orlando Lenzen, with his comedic talent, took on the role of the queer "Gutter Princess" from a song by Tim Fischer, while Roman Wieland interpreted a heartwarming number from the Hamburg band Kante. Michael Fünfschilling brought laughter with his rendition of Georg Kreisler's "Love Letter," and Sarah Steinbach masterfully delivered the poetic edge of a Herbert Grönemeyer song.
Luise Zieger captivated the audience with her performance of an erotic fantasy by Georgette Dee titled "On the train to Paris." Jule Schuck and Charlie Schülke demanded great emotions from the audience with their powerful performances.
The musical direction and piano accompaniment were skillfully handled by Matt Johan Leenders, ensuring the show ran smoothly. A hint of melancholy was present in the performance, referencing a song by Tristan Brusch, adding depth and emotion to the production.
The evening concluded with comfort provided by the encore, a song by Gerhard Gundermann. The revue was a great joy for all who attended, and tickets are still available for performances on January 1st and February 6th.
Despite not having specific information about the idea for the Uraufführung (premiere) of the revue "In My Head is a Roller Coaster" at the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf, it is possible that this is a local or less well-known production. If you'd like to learn more about the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf or similar events, I'd be happy to help.
Additional details about the revue, such as the performers' specific interpretations of classic songs by Cole Porter and Jacques Brel in German, were not available at the time of writing. However, it is understood that under certain circumstances, I may not be able to provide the exact originator of the revue's idea. Elias Nagel, for instance, expressed his love for heavy Franconian food and beer during his performance.
