In a thrilling development for romantic comedy enthusiasts, New Line has announced the acquisition of an upcoming untitled project, currently known as the Untitled Baby Love Project. The film will be helmed by director Channing Godfrey Peoples, who is best known for her work on films such as Miss Juneteenth and The Last Thing He Wanted. Peoples will be joined by writers Sas Goldberg and Ana Nogueira, who have recently signed a first-look development deal at 20th Television. Goldberg, who has also written for the award-winning series Only Murders in the Building and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, has recently appeared in the series And Just Like That... (HBO Max) and Life & Beth (Hulu), as well as the SXSW-premiering indie A Nice Indian Boy. Nogueira, meanwhile, has made a name for herself with her writing and acting talents. She has written the screenplay for the upcoming Supergirl for DC Studios and has been tapped to pen their Wonder Woman reboot, as well as a live-action Teen Titans movie. She has also recurred on Starz's Hightown and has appeared in The Vampire Diaries, The Michael J. Fox Show, and The Blacklist. Nogueira has also written and starred in the SXSW short We Win and is the playwright behind Which Way to the Stage (MCC) and Empathitrax, now in development as a feature with Berlanti Productions. The film's producers will be Peter Safran, John Rickard, and Alex Saks. Safran and Peoples have previously collaborated on the rom-com I Want You Back. The plot details for the film are currently under wraps, but fans of romantic comedies can look forward to another heartwarming and entertaining addition to the genre. Stay tuned for more updates on the Untitled Baby Love Project, and let's hope for another romantic comedy hit from New Line!
