Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan assumes presidency of the Liberal Party
In a significant development, the National Liberal Party (PNL) of Romania has elected four new first vice presidents during its recent Congress. The newly elected officials are Cătălin Predoiu, Adrian Veştea, Nicoleta Pauliuc, and Ciprian Ciucu.
Cătălin Predoiu and Ciprian Ciucu, who previously held their positions as interim first vice presidents, were re-elected in their roles. Predoiu had also covered Ilie Bolojan's seat as interim president during Bolojan's term as interim head of the party. Adrian Veştea, meanwhile, held the position of interim secretary general.
Nicoleta Pauliuc, the fourth elected first vice president, does not have specific information available about her previous position within the PNL.
The election of these four individuals comes after Ilie Bolojan was confirmed as the new president of the party. Bolojan, who served as the interim head of PNL following Nicolae Ciuca's resignation, was elected as president on July 12.
Ten candidates ran for the positions of first vice president in the election. Dan Motreanu, according to Bolojan, is expected to be validated in the first meeting of the party's National Political Bureau. Bolojan has also proposed Dan Motreanu as the new Secretary General of the PNL.
