Romanian filmmaker Radu Jude receives a showcase of his work at the Pompidou Centre in Paris.
Paris, France - The Pompidou Centre, one of Europe's leading centres for modern and contemporary art and culture, is set to host a retrospective of Romanian filmmaker Radu Jude's works from September 23 to October 11, 2025. This comprehensive program, entitled "Cinéaste intranquille" (Restless Filmmaker), brings together films that span over two decades of Jude's career.
Born in 1977, Radu Jude has established himself as one of the most acclaimed contemporary filmmakers, earning a reputation for his innovative and provocative works. The retrospective aims to highlight his career, showcasing films such as "The Happiest Girl in the World" (2009), "I Do Not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians" (2018), and "Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World" (2023), which won multiple awards at the Locarno film festival.
Notably, "Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World" was also the film that earned Jude the Silver Bear for directing at the 2015 Berlinale. In 2021, he won the Golden Bear at the same festival with "Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn."
The retrospective will open with "Kontinental 25" and close with "Dracula," two of Jude's most recent films. The event is being organized by the Pompidou Centre, with support from the Romanian Cultural Institute in Paris and the Consulate General of Romania in Marseille.
Given the renovation of the Pompidou Centre, the film program will be held at MK2 Bibliothèque. The retrospective is a large-scale program realized in partnership with the Pompidou Centre, Éditions de l'Œil, The Film Gallery, Météore Films, the Romanian Cultural Institute in Paris, and the Consulate General of Romania in Marseille.
As part of the retrospective, Radu Jude will hold a masterclass during the program, moderated by Andrei Gorzo. Additionally, a monograph titled "The End of Cinema Can Wait" will be published, co-edited with Les Éditions de l'Œil.
