In the women's tournament, defending champion Iga Swiatek faced Kazakhstani Elena Rybakina (No.12) in a tough encounter. Swiatek ultimately prevailed, having never beaten Rybakina on clay before (two previous defeats). Spanish defending champion Carlos Alcaraz (No.2) also advanced despite dropping a set against American Ben Shelton (No.13).

Elsewhere, Italian Jasmine Paolini suffered a loss to Ukrainian Elina Svitolina (4-6, 7-6 [8-6], 6-1). Svitolina reached the quarterfinals at Porte d'Auteuil for the fifth time in her career.

The exciting men's clash between Musetti and Rune went the distance, lasting 3 hours and 18 minutes. Musetti, who has been in form on the clay court season, reaching the final in Monte-Carlo and the semifinals in Madrid and Rome, eventually secured the win (7-5, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2).

In the evening session, Musetti shone, overpowering Rune in a Fourth set tie-break (7-6, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2). Rune, despite a better first-serve percentage, struggled on Musetti's return shots, resulting in a logical defeat. This marks Musetti's first Top 10 Grand Slam victory.
