Roland Assinger steps down as Austria's women's alpine skiing head coach

Roland Assinger will step down as head coach of Austria's women's alpine skiing team at the end of the current season. His decision comes after leading the team since April 2023, marking a short but notable period in charge.

Assinger first joined the Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV) in 2008, taking on various coaching roles over the years. His experience within the organisation spans more than 15 years, building a strong background in alpine skiing development.

His current contract runs until the end of this season, and he has chosen not to renew it. Despite leaving his head coach position, he is expected to stay with ÖSV in a different role. No official announcements have been made regarding his future responsibilities. The federation has not yet revealed plans for the 2026-2027 season, including potential replacements for his position.

Assinger's departure as head coach follows a long career with the Austrian Ski Federation. His next steps within the organisation remain unclear, though his continued involvement suggests a shift in focus rather than a complete exit. The federation will likely confirm further details in due course.
