Rod Stewart's AI tribute to Ozzy Osbourne and other deceased music legends is acceptable to Tupac's stepbrother, despite potential legal concerns.
Rod Stewart has stirred up a storm of controversy with his latest venture - an AI-generated tribute to Ozzy Osbourne. The video, which features Osbourne taking selfies with various iconic musicians, all of whom are now deceased, includes controversial figures such as Tupac Shakur, XXXTentacion, and Michael Jackson.
The inclusion of these deceased pop stars has sparked backlash from fans and media, who argue that the tribute is disrespectful and trivializes the legacies of the deceased. The families of the artists represented, particularly those of XXXTentacion, have expressed unease and discomfort, feeling that the portrayal in the AI-based digital format is exploitative and insensitive given the controversies surrounding them.
Sloane Steel, the blogger who initially shared the news of Rod Stewart's tribute, has since backtracked and expressed regret for making an issue of it. She believes that AI-generated content like the tribute is soulless and offensive. However, she did not mention any new facts about the AI-generated footage or any legal concerns regarding the inclusion of Tupac Shakur, XXXTentacion, or any other deceased pop stars.
Interestingly, Sloane Steel wryly noted that Ozzy Osbourne's close friends Randy Rhoads and Lemmy might be waiting for him in hell instead of the featured deceased pop stars. She also pointed out that one of the featured icons, Prince, was bitterly opposed to virtual reality and holograms while he was alive.
Tupac Shakur's stepbrother, Mopreme Shakur, has no problem with Rod Stewart memorializing the greats. Similarly, Mopreme Shakur expressed no legal concerns about Rod Stewart's tribute to his friends. On the other hand, Cleopatra Barnard, mother of murdered rapper XXXTentacion, is glad her son was included in the tribute. However, she did not comment on the legalities of her son's inclusion.
As the controversy continues to swirl, it remains to be seen how Rod Stewart will respond to the criticisms and whether he will choose to withdraw or defend the AI-generated tribute.
