Rocky Mountain Road remains closed due to icy conditions until Saturday
The Rocky Mountain Road will stay shut until at least midday on Saturday because of icy conditions. Officials have stressed that public safety is the main reason for keeping the route closed. A new inspection is planned for 9am to check if the road can reopen sooner.
The closure affects drivers heading to popular spots in the area. Those wanting to reach the Victory Café can still get there via Tholt Y Will Road from Sulby. Meanwhile, visitors to the Creg Ny Baa pub can use Douglas or Creg Ny Baa Back Road as alternative routes.
Drivers are being advised to plan journeys carefully while the Rocky Mountain Road is closed. The 9am assessment will determine whether the route reopens by noon. Until then, the current detours will stay in place for safety.
