The Colorado Rockies secured a much-needed win on Friday night, defeating the Los Angeles Angels 7-6 and snapping a five-game losing streak.

The game started with a bang for the Rockies as Hunter Goodman hit an RBI triple, bringing Tyler Freeman across to take an early lead. Blaine Crim followed with a sacrifice fly to extend the lead.

The Angels responded in the second inning with home runs from Christian Moore and Denzer Guzman, but the Rockies' offense was far from done. Freeman continued his impressive performance with three hits, including a double, and Brenton Doyle added a two-run single in the sixth inning.

Hunter Goodwin, the primary catcher for the Rockies, contributed with another RBI triple, and Ezequiel Tovar scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.

Starting pitcher Bradley Blalock had a tough outing, allowing eight hits and six earned runs while striking out four. However, the Rockies' bullpen stepped up, pitching four innings of one-hit ball in relief. Victor Vodnik earned his ninth save of the year in the ninth inning.

On the other side, the Angels' RHP Kyle Hendricks will face the Rockies' RHP Germán Márquez in the second game of the three-game series. The Angels will be hoping to end their eight-game losing streak, having lost their seventh straight game to the Milwaukee Brewers in their previous game.

Notably, Tovar, Goodwin, and C.J. Cron are the only Rockies players since 2022 to have 60 or more extra-base hits in a season. Meanwhile, Goodwin holds the record for the most extra-base hits (61) in a single season by a Rockies primary catcher in franchise history.

Christian Yelich reached 100 RBIs for the season for the Milwaukee Brewers in their previous game. The Angels will now face the Brewers, aiming to turn their fortunes around.
