Bruce Dickinson, the iconic frontman of Iron Maiden, has announced that his eighth solo album is set to be released in 2027. Titled "The Mandrake Project," this much-anticipated album follows his 2024 release of the same name.

The new album, which currently boasts around 18 demoed tracks, promises a unique blend of heavy metal and acoustic elements, with the musical style varying depending on the song's narrative. Dickinson himself described the album as "bone-crushingly heavy when it’s heavy, but acoustic when it’s acoustic," emphasizing that the music follows the requirements of each song.

The album is set to be recorded live in the studio, a decision that Dickinson believes will add a raw, authentic quality to the music. He expressed his excitement over the tracks, noting that they have already impressed people at the record label.

The creation of "The Mandrake Project" has been a long time coming, with work beginning as early as 2014. Guitarist and producer Roy Z has been instrumental in the album's development.

Dickinson played the demos of his upcoming album to some of his team members, including Steve Harris, the bassist of Iron Maiden and the band's de facto leader and primary songwriter. Harris has already expressed his love for the new material.

While the European leg of Iron Maiden's 50th-anniversary tour, titled "Run For Your Lives," has been completed, the tour is expected to extend into 2026. However, Dickinson has confirmed that the new solo album will be released after Iron Maiden's live dates in that year, due to the band's commitments.

Fans can look forward to a musical journey that is both heavy and emotionally resonant, with songs that are "bone-crushingly heavy" and others that "tug at the heartstrings."
