Rock icon Steven Tyler to hit the Hollywood Bowl stage alongside Joe Perry's project, a prelude to The Who's farewell performance (Exclusive)
In an exciting turn of events, rock fans are in for a treat as legendary musicians Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, both former members of Aerosmith, are set to collaborate for The Who's farewell show at the Hollywood Bowl on Wednesday.
The Who's North American tour, which began in August in Florida, is expected to conclude at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert on Oct. 1. However, the event in question is the farewell show at the Hollywood Bowl, where an unexpected reunion between Tyler and Perry is anticipated.
Aerosmith, the band that both Tyler and Perry are part of, announced their retirement from the road last year. Since then, the two musicians have reunited several times, including at a benefit show for Janie's Fund and during the VMAs last week.
At the VMAs, they paid homage to the late Ozzy Osbourne by performing "Mama, I'm Coming Home," with Yungblud joining them on vocals. Aerosmith shared a snippet of their upcoming single "My Only Angel" featuring Yungblud on Monday, marking Aerosmith's first new music in over a decade.
Reps for Perry and Tyler did not respond to a request for comment regarding their collaboration at The Who's show. However, sources close to the tour have confirmed that the performance is expected to include three songs between Tyler and Perry.
The Joe Perry Project will open for The Who at the first Hollywood Bowl show this week. It is also rumoured that Steven Tyler is expected to join the Joe Perry Project onstage as a surprise guest during their opening set.
In a twist of events, The Offspring will open for The Who at the second Hollywood Bowl show on Friday. The Who started their North American tour in August, and the Hollywood Bowl shows mark the final stops of their tour.
Steven Tyler performed at Ozzy Osbourne's farewell show in Birmingham, England over the summer, as part of a tribute to Osbourne at the MTV VMAs. Tyler and Perry played "Walk This Way" and a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" at Osbourne's show, showcasing their enduring chemistry.
Fans of these iconic musicians are eagerly awaiting this historic collaboration, which promises to be a memorable end to The Who's North American tour.
