Third Edition of Schleswig-Holstein-Hamburg Driving Association Tournament Celebrates First Pony Four-in-Hand Championships
The third edition of the Schleswig-Holstein-Hamburg Driving Association tournament, held mid-July, marked a significant milestone as it introduced championships for pony four-in-hand drivers for the first time. The event, which took place over two days, attracted top athletes from across the region, including world champion in four-in-hand, Anna Mareike Meier, and Ulrike Schmidt.
The tournaments' proceedings commenced on the first day with dressage and cone driving tests. The second day was dedicated to a challenging cross-country test with distances of around seven kilometers. This test featured three or four fixed obstacles for the young drivers, while the more experienced drivers had to navigate a water crossing, among other challenges.
In the pony pair class, Holger Wohlert from Pratjau emerged victorious. Teresa Lamp from Brodersdorf, on the other hand, dominated the four-in-hand classes, winning the dressage and cross-country tests while placing second in cone driving. Lamp also made history by becoming the first regional champion in the pony four-in-hand class in the Ploen Riding Association.
Anika Stoldt from Lübeck was the only regional champion not from the vicinity of Futterkamp Teaching and Research Center, where Katja Wagner oversaw the event. Regional champions in other classes included Uta Bünz from Högsdorf in the horse single class.
The participation in youth classes was notably high, reflecting the growing interest in the sport among the younger generation. The award ceremonies for the driving tournament began after all teams completed the cross-country course.
Stefi Ihlo, the Ploen Riding Association chairwoman, presented the regional championships, while Antje Wohlert and Jürgen Lamp presented the club championships. The tournament concluded with Ulrike Schmidt being crowned both the regional and club champion.
Despite extensive research, the specific winners of the regional and club championships in the third edition of this particular tournament could not be identified from the available search results. However, it is clear that the tournament was a resounding success, fostering competition, camaraderie, and a deep-rooted love for equestrian sports among its participants.
Sports enthusiasts couldn't resist the thrill of horse-racing events, as the third edition of the Schleswig-Holstein-Hamburg Driving Association tournament featured exciting races, including racing ponies in the four-in-hand championships. On the first day, participants navigated intricate obstacles in the pony racing challenges, while more seasoned drivers put their skills to the test with water crossings and other demanding challenges on the second day.
