Robin Singh, a former India all-rounder and long-time UAE coach, has launched the Robin Singh Relations (RSR) Cricket Academy in Dubai. The academy, aimed at nurturing young UAE cricket talent, focuses on holistic player development and real match experience rather than routine drills.

The RSR Cricket Academy, in partnership with Srinivas Babu, targets aspiring cricketers aged 7 to 19. Its philosophy emphasizes "play more, train less," prioritizing actual match play over repetitive net practices to enhance quick decision-making and mental agility.

Initially, the academy operates from three locations in Dubai — Gems Modern Academy (Nad Al Sheba), Gems Metropole School (Al Waha), and Gems New Millennium (Al Khail). Future plans include the development of a dedicated cricket ground exclusive to the academy and a calendar packed with weekly practice matches to ensure continuous competitive exposure.

International exposure and scholarships are also key components of the academy's strategy. Partnerships with English county clubs offer fully funded scholarships to selected players, while collaborations with cricketing nations such as South Africa, Australia, and India are being pursued to provide global opportunities for skill enhancement.

The coaching panel includes former top international cricketers and expert coaches like Lakshmipathy Balaji, Thiru Kumaran, Debashish Mohanty from India, West Indies legends like Curtly Ambrose and Shivnarine Chanderpaul, renowned trainers like Ramji Srinivasan, and Tanveer.

Robin Singh emphasizes grassroots growth, professional discipline, use of analytics-based curriculum, and personal mentorship to ensure a comprehensive development pathway for young talent. The academy aims not only to produce cricketers but to shape individuals who can compete with themselves and succeed on the global cricket stage through discipline, confidence, and mental agility.

In a recent interview, Robin Singh expressed his belief that the missing link in ensuring UAE's emerging players can compete with established cricket nations is the right support. He sees his academy as a continuation of building systems where players can grow with the right support. The academy also offers a scholarship program to identify and groom outstanding talent.

As India head into the Asia Cup as defending champions, Robin Singh believes the team will enter as firm contenders, citing the team's depth and the rise of vice-captain Shubman Gill. Gill's calmness and maturity have stood out in the past year, according to Robin Singh, who has personally promised to mentor standout prospects at the academy.

A.K.S. Satish, who helped lay the foundations for home-grown cricketers in UAE during his tenure as national coach, agrees that the challenge for UAE is less about infrastructure and more about raising coaching standards. He sees UAE's appearance in the Asia Cup as significant, offering exposure and an opportunity to play positive cricket.

India's bench strength is so vast that major tournaments spark debates over omissions, as mentioned by Robin Singh. Despite this, he feels that rankings and recent results matter more than past labels for India.

In conclusion, the launch of the Robin Singh Relations Cricket Academy in Dubai marks Robin Singh’s third major stint in the UAE cricketing ecosystem, reflecting his long-term commitment to elevating the sport regionally with modern coaching approaches and international linkages.
