Shocking Details Unveiled: Armed Robbery Turns Deadly in Danbare Quarters, Kano State
Robbery Triggers Deadly Confrontation in Kano Community, Resulting in One Fatality
In a heart-wrenching incident that took place early Monday morning, a 30-year-old man named Shuaibu Muhammad lost his life to a band of armed robbers who targeted a residential apartment in the Danbare community of Kano State. As the sun rose for the Muslim 'Subh' (dawn) prayer, this peaceful neighborhood was left reeling.
Our sources shed light on the chilling details that unfolded in the early hours, thanks to Haruna Nuhu Hussain, Shuaibu's friend and fellow resident who was fortunate to escape the ordeal.
Hussain shared a profound account with Daily Trust, recounting that nine individuals were present in the house that fateful night. Four had already gone to the mosque, leaving five behind preparing for prayer. Asleep in his bed, Hussain woke up to an unimaginable scene — robbers had invaded their home.
One of the intruders approached a resident near the well in the compound and demanded a prayer mat. When the resident attempted to retrieve it, the marauders prowled into the house and initiated their brutal attacks.
In pure terror, Hussain described the horrific sight of one robber swinging a cutlass to strike him. Luckily, the other assailants recognized that Hussain was not the one with the mat, sparing him from a gruesome fate. However, by the time Hussain led them outside, his friend Shuaibu had already sustained fatal injuries and lay motionless on the ground.
Hussain had recently relocated to the area, confiding that this was his first encounter with such a harrowing event. Before the tragic night, the robbers had already injured another local resident.
In an astounding turn of events, the courageous residents clubbed together, managing to subdue one of the attackers whom they suspected to be the leader of the group. This suspect, later revealed to be 20-year-old Aliyu Umar, was handed over to the Dorayi Divisional Police Station for interrogation[1][2][3][4].
Eyewitnesses confirmed to journalists that Aliyu Umar had recently been seen threatening shop owners with a cutlass and demanding money. The community's identification of him at the scene led to his capture, but concerns remain about his supposed history of criminal activities[1][2][3].
As of the time of filing this report, the Police Command has yet to release an official statement regarding the events.
