RJD Plans to Contest in All 243 Bihar Seats Amid Internal Dispute, According to Tejashwi

The political landscape in Bihar is heating up as key players gear up for the upcoming Assembly elections. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has declared that his party will contest all 243 seats in the polls, marking a bold move for the party.

This announcement comes amidst ongoing seat-sharing talks between the RJD and the Congress Party. The Congress Party, on the other hand, has expressed its ambition to secure 70 seats in the elections.

The RJD's decision to contest all seats is not without precedent. In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, the RJD emerged as the single-largest party, winning 75 seats, but ultimately losing the election to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) which secured a thin majority, winning 125 seats.

The stalemate in seat-sharing negotiations has led to some reluctance in announcing Tejashwi Yadav as the chief ministerial candidate of the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar. RJD sources claim that Yadav's assertion was an appeal to voters to support the Mahagathbandhan, and not intended to signal any message to alliance partners.

The Congress Party's successful completion of the recent Vote Adhikar Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi has emboldened it. The party is demanding not less than 70 seats, while the RJD is unwilling to give more than 45-50 seats.

Meanwhile, the ruling NDA has been accused of using Yadav's statements to create a rift in the alliance. The Mahagathbandhan, which fought together in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, currently finds itself in a state of flux with the Janata Dal (United) rejoining the NDA, leaving the RJD as the dominant party in the grand alliance.

Elsewhere, the Maharashtra government has approved a policy to boost the digital content sector. In Odisha, an anti-drone shield is being installed for Lord Jagannath's Srimandir to bolster security.

As the countdown to the Bihar Assembly elections begins, the seat-sharing formula between the alliance partners is at the final stage and will be announced soon. The final decisions will undoubtedly shape the course of the elections and the future political landscape of Bihar.
