Burning Issues in Rivers State: Jerry Omatsogunwa Accuses Sole Administrator Ibok-Ete Ibas of Stirring Trouble
Rivers Sole Administrator, Ibas, Accused by Fubara's Aide of Stirring Trouble over Appointment of Wike's Supporter
In a revealing chat with Daily Post, Jerry Omatsogunwa, the Special Assistant on Electronic Media to the suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, leveled some startling allegations against the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.).
Omatsogunwa claims that Ibas is appointing loyalists of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as sole administrators across the state's 23 local government areas.
At odds with the prevailing state of emergency in Rivers State, Omatsogunwa opines that only one state out of 36 cannot be under such rule. He underscores his point by stating that Ibas admitted that Rivers State is peaceful. Yet, he insists that prolonging the state of emergency is unnecessary, given the growing calls for Fubara's reinstatement among the citizenry.
Speaking candidly, Omatsogunwa stated, "I don't see anything prolonging the state of emergency. And you've been seeing agitations in the streets of Port Harcourt, where people are calling for the replacement of democratic apparatus in Rivers State."
Regarding the rumors of a meeting between Governor Fubara and President Bola Tinubu over the weekend in London, Omatsogunwa chose to remain tight-lipped, adding that any such encounter would be a positive step towards resolving the current impasse in Rivers State.
Though the specifics of Omatsogunwa's accusations remain unclear, tensions are running high in Rivers State as the political landscape continues to shift. As the Sole Administrator, Ibas has a critical role to play in ensuring peace and restoring democracy to the state.
