The Oberliga handball team, HSG Vennikel/Rumeln/Kaldenhausen, is gearing up for a series of challenging matches in the coming weeks. In a recent development, their player-coach, Mirko Szymanowicz, will be unavailable for approximately six weeks due to surgery on his right knee.

The surgery, which took place on Monday, was performed to address an unspecified injury. Unfortunately, the specific details about the injury or the recovery timeline are not yet available to the public. Fans and supporters are encouraged to check the club’s official communications, such as their website or social media channels, for the most accurate and updated information.

In the meantime, Szymanowicz's absence leaves a significant gap in the team. The upcoming test match on Saturday, which will take place in their AEG hall, will not be against TV Kapellen as previously planned, but against TV Oppum II.

The team has been going through a tough phase, as evidenced by their recent defeat against TV Schwafheim. Gerit Fietze, a veteran player, analysed the loss, attributing it to heavy legs from intense training in the last few days and the team having only four defensive players due to Nikolai Lenz having to cancel at short notice.

Meanwhile, the OSC Rheinhausen is also preparing for a challenging match. They will play an Oberliga match at home on Saturday against Adler Königshof, but without an audience. The team is coming off a loss in their previous test match against TV Schwafheim, with a score of 17:25 (10:13). They will play a test match against TV Aldekerk on Thursday evening before facing HSG Vennikel/Rumeln/Kaldenhausen next Saturday.

The OSC Rheinhausen's previous test match against TV Kapellen ended in a score of 30:51, and they will play a benefit game against HSG Krefeld Niederrhein before their subsequent matches.

As the handball season progresses, both teams will need to adapt and overcome their current challenges to secure victories. Fans and supporters are eagerly awaiting the upcoming matches, hoping for exciting and competitive games.
