Rising hockey stars shine with record-breaking performances across leagues
Several hockey players have made headlines with standout performances across different leagues. Recent games saw impressive stats, awards, and career milestones for athletes in the SHL, WHL, NCAA, and ECAC.
In the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), Victor Eklund matched his season-best point streak with four assists over three games. Currently, he ranks sixth on Djurgårdens IF with 24 points (6 goals, 18 assists) this season.
Over in North America, Burke Hood spent most of the 2025/26 season in the WHL with the Seattle Thunderbirds, having previously played for the Vancouver Giants. This year, his record stands at 18-17-2, with a 3.77 goals-against average (GAA) and a 0.893 save percentage. One of his best moments came when he earned the WHL's Save of the Night for a first-period stop against the Victoria Royals, despite his team's 5-2 loss. His strong season earned him a spot on the All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Second Team.
