Rises from Backyard Cricket Games to Shine as a Star in the UAE National Team
Rising Star in UAE Cricket: Ali Naseer's Journey
Ali Naseer, a young and promising cricketer, has been making waves in the UAE's cricket circuit. His love for the game began at the tender age of six, and it has been his passion ever since.
Naseer started his cricketing journey playing hard-ball cricket at the age of twelve. Balancing school life and hours at the cricket academy was challenging, but his dedication and love for the sport kept him going.
The ICC Cricket Academy was a significant part of Naseer's journey. He joined the academy at the age of twelve, and it was there that he met his first coach, the legendary Mudassar Nazar. Naseer values Nazar's guidance as invaluable, describing him as humble and approachable.
Naseer's hard work paid off when he was selected for the under-16 UAE team at the age of fifteen. His debut was impressive, scoring an astounding 197 runs in his first international tournament in Oman. He also impressed his opponents with two back-to-back half-centuries in his first international match against the West Indies.
As a right-handed batsman and wicketkeeper, Naseer has been a consistent member of UAE franchise cricket. He has played for clubs such as Wynnum-Manly and Pirates, and in the high-profile DP World International League T20 (ILT20) tournament, he has represented the Desert Vipers in all three seasons.
Naseer is part of the squads set for the third DP World ILT20 Development Tournament starting August 24, 2025, which aims to showcase rising UAE cricket talent ahead of the DP World ILT20 2025 Player Auction scheduled for late September 2025. The Asia Cup 2025, scheduled to take place in the UAE starting early September, presents another opportunity for Naseer to feature for the national side or in related events.
Despite the challenges of playing in the hot summer months in the UAE, Naseer sees a bright future ahead in his cricketing career as a member of the UAE national cricket team. He emphasizes the importance of staying fit for cricket, a physically demanding sport.
Looking back, Naseer recalls his time at the ICC Cricket Academy fondly. He is grateful for Mudassar Nazar's guidance throughout his cricket journey at the academy. With his talent and dedication, Ali Naseer is undoubtedly a rising star to watch in the world of UAE cricket.
