  • Let's get real, shall we?

Right-wing extremism count persistently increasing in Saxony ( state ) - Rise in Right-Wing Extremists in Saxony: Constitutional Security Remains Vigilant

Right-wing extremism in Saxony is on a roll, and it ain't pretty. According to Dirk-Martin Christian, president of the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the youth are hopping on the bandwagon like never before. Last year's ant-CSD protests put a spotlight on the young, radicalized right-wing extremists that have been emerging.

The success of extremist parties like the AfD and 'Free Saxony' in recent elections highlights just how normal right-wing extremism is becoming for some. The so-called Reich citizen and self-administration scene continues to expand—currently boasting around 3100 individuals, a 100-person increase from 2023, largely thanks to the influence of the Kingdom of Germany in Saxony.

Meanwhile, the left-wing extremist scene remains nearly constant, at around 900 members. However, there's increasing cooperation between left-wing extremists and foreign-based extremists, particularly in pro-Palestinian activities in Leipzig. Groups like Young Struggle Leipzig and Handala, with about 35 people combined, have gained attention for their anti-Israel and antisemitic propaganda on social media and at events.

On the other hand, the Islamist scene in Saxony has seen a slight decrease, going from 450 members to 400 in the past year.

Dirk-Martin Christian warns that the overall threat situation is worsening, accelerated by the Ukraine war and Russia's schemes. Russia is determined to stir up conflicts and use them as leverage against political decisions in Germany.

What's Happening Here?

  • Right-wing extremism is rapidly increasing in Saxony, with a focus on the radicalization of younger individuals.
  • Parties such as the AfD and 'Free Saxony' have been successful in recent elections, adding to the normalization of extremist ideologies.
  • The Reich citizen and self-administration scene is growing, with the Kingdom of Germany playing a significant role in Saxony.

Why Does It Matter?

  • Social polarization: Growing right-wing extremism increases tensions and can undermine trust in democratic institutions.
  • Economic impact: Xenophobia can discourage investment and skilled labor, leading to economic disparities between regions.
  • Risks to democratic stability: Extremist movements can challenge the existing political order and threaten the rule of law.

Addressing these issues requires advocating for tolerance, diversity, and cosmopolitanism, while also investing in political education and social programs to combat extremist ideologies.

  • In light of the rising extremism in Saxony, Dirk-Martin Christian, President of the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution, is raising concerns about the increased radicalization of young people.
  • The success of right-wing parties like the AfD and 'Free Saxony' in recent elections, coupled with the growth of the Reich citizen and self-administration scene, suggests that extremist ideologies are becoming more normalized.
  • War-and-conflicts, especially the Ukraine war and Russia's schemes, are contributing to the worsening threat situation, as Russia seeks to stir up conflicts and manipulate political decisions in Germany.
