Rincon de la Victoria Sizzles: Andalusia's Hottest Spot in Record-Breaking Autumn Heatwave
Rincon de la Victoria, a coastal town in Andalusia, Spain, has been grappling with record-breaking autumn temperatures this week. The town experienced its hottest October day ever, with temperatures climbing to 33.5°C on Tuesday, October 21. This heatwave has made Rincon de la Victoria the hottest spot in Andalusia during this period.
The heatwave was triggered by a high-pressure system that led to prolonged stable and hot weather conditions. Additionally, the Terral wind, blowing from land to sea, brought hot, dry inland air to the coast, intensifying the heat. The Foehn effect also played a part, heating the air as it rolled over Malaga's mountains. Velez-Malaga and Manilva also felt the heat, with temperatures reaching 34.9°C and 35.5°C respectively. Velez-Malaga had three nights with temperatures barely dropping below 28°C and experienced over 30°C heat for three consecutive days from Monday 20 to Wednesday 22 October.
Rincon de la Victoria had four tropical nights with temperatures not dipping below 20°C, officially making it the hottest spot in Andalusia during this period. Cooler days and rain are forecasted to arrive soon, providing much-needed relief from the heatwave.
The record-breaking temperatures in Rincon de la Victoria and surrounding areas have been caused by a combination of weather phenomena. While the heatwave has been intense, cooler days and rain are expected to arrive soon, bringing an end to this unusual autumn heat.
