Toronto Blue Jays' Bowden Francis Remains on 60-Day Injured List Due to Right Shoulder Impingement

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Bowden Francis is still recovering from a right shoulder impingement injury, which has kept him on the 60-day injured list. The setback forced the team to transfer him from the 15-day injured list on July 28, 2025.

Francis first landed on the 15-day IL on June 17, 2025. Since then, he has been shut down from throwing, and there is no set timetable for his return. He is not eligible to be activated until mid-August at the earliest.

The 2025 season has been a challenging one for Francis, who has struggled with a 6.05 earned-run average and allowed 19 home runs in 14 starts. This is a stark contrast to his 2024 performance, where he went 2-8 but had a more impressive 3.30 ERA.

Unlike teammate Ryan Burr, who is scheduled for season-ending surgery for a rotator cuff strain, there has been no announcement of surgery for Francis. His prognosis remains uncertain, and a clear return date has yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jays have good news on another front. Infielder Will Wagner has been reinstated from the restricted list and is listed as active for Monday's series opener in Baltimore.

In the 2023 season, Francis allowed 17 home runs in 13 starts. The team has not yet announced a replacement for him in the starting rotation while he is on the injured list.

[1] Despite the setbacks, Bowden Francis continues to recover from his right shoulder impingement injury, which means he'll be sidelined for the foreseeable future in Major League Baseball with the Toronto Blue Jays.
