In an exciting turn of events, the U17 football team of VFL Weiße Elf recently made a stopover in the historic city of Rome during their return to Nordhorn. The main destination, however, was the Partner City of Rieti, where the team participated in the 26th Scopigno Cup.

The Scopigno Cup, an unspecified type of competition, is being held in the heart of Rieti. This year, the city welcomed top teams like Frosinone Calcio and Dynamo Moscow, as well as the Brazilian football team of Palmeiras, for a series of football games today.

The team from Nordhorn was not the only one enjoying the city tour. They were joined by their Palmeiras counterparts, exploring the charming streets of Rieti together. Highlights of the tour included a visit to the festive town hall and a trip to the ski area, the Terminillo, the home mountain of Rieti.

The city tour was organised by the students of the German course at the high school of Rieti, demonstrating the strong bond between the cities. Special thanks were given to the active members of the city partnership and the sponsors for making the trip possible.

The Scopigno Cup came to a thrilling conclusion with Torino FC emerging as the winners. The event, which is taking place within the city limits of Rieti, provided an opportunity for a unique exchange between young people of many different nationalities.

The trip was not just about football and city tours. It was a testament to the power of sport and cultural exchange, fostering friendships and understanding across borders. The VFL Weiße Elf returned to Nordhorn with memories of a lifetime and a newfound appreciation for the Partner City of Rieti.
