Ride accident at Epic Universe amusement park leads to man's demise; cause confirmed by medical examination

Universal Orlando Resort's latest theme park, Epic Universe, has been shrouded in tragedy following the death of a man after riding the Stardust Racers roller coaster. The man, in his 30s, was found unresponsive in the ride car after the ride and later passed away in hospital.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office in Orlando confirmed the incident, which occurred at the Universal Studios park near me, making it the first major, traditional theme park to open in Florida since 1999. The Stardust Racers attraction remains closed following the incident, as investigations continue.

Universal Orlando Resorts issued a statement expressing condolences for the tragic event and is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Florida's largest theme parks, including Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Hollywood, are exempt from state safety inspections, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the situation.

The medical examiner, Joshua Stephany, ruled the death an accident after performing an autopsy. However, Dennis Speigel, CEO of consulting firm International Theme Park Services, found the autopsy's conclusion 'pretty shocking.' Speigel raised questions about the nature and cause of the injuries.

The medical examiner's statement did not provide details about the injuries, but it was reported that the victim suffered multiple blunt force injuries. The exact nature and cause of the blood injuries are not specified, but the incident involved severe impact trauma.

Three reports have been made since Epic Universe opened in May, involving incidents on the Stardust Racers coaster and Hiccup's Wing Gliders ride. The roller coaster involved, Stardust Racers, reaches speeds up to 62 mph (100 kph).

Epic Universe, Universal Orlando Resort's fourth park in Florida, boasts five themed sections and a 500-room hotel. The park, which opened in May, has been a much-anticipated addition to the Orlando theme park scene.

As the investigation continues, Universal Orlando Resorts and the theme park industry as a whole will be closely watching developments. The tragic incident serves as a reminder of the inherent risks associated with theme park rides and the importance of safety measures and investigations.
