Rick Wakeman Honoured on New Stamps, Welcomes Jesse Smith as New Vocalist
Keyboard legend Rick Wakeman is honoured on a new six-stamp collection by Isle Of Man Stamps & Coins, featuring artwork by Roger Dean. Meanwhile, the rocker announces new vocalist Jesse Smith for his upcoming tours, replacing Mollie Marriott.
Wakeman, known for his solo albums like 'The Six Wives Of Henry VIII' and 'The Myths And Legends Of King Arthur And The Knights Of The Round Table', will perform these classics on the new dates. Smith, who has worked with BBC's Strictly Come Dancing and Spike's All Stars featuring Queen drummer Roger Taylor, takes the lead vocalist role.
Last week, a video for the title track of Wakeman's upcoming album 'Melancholia' was released. The album, set for release on October 17 via Madfish Records, will be supported by a tour featuring Smith. However, for 'The Return Of The Caped Crusader Part 2' tour in October, Oliver Wakeman, Rick's eldest son, will step in due to Marriott's unavailability. Smith has previously performed as lead vocalist for The Classic Rock Show and Led Zeppelin Symphonic.
Rick Wakeman's new stamps, featuring Roger Dean's artwork, celebrate the keyboardist's legacy. With Jesse Smith as the new vocalist, fans can expect fresh interpretations of Wakeman's classic solo albums on the upcoming tours. The release of 'Melancholia' and its supporting tour are highly anticipated news in the progressive rock calendar.
