Johnson's focus has shifted from Star Wars to a murder mystery after the success of 'Knives Out'.
Johnson, who directed 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' in 2017, was initially announced to create a new Star Wars trilogy. However, Lucasfilm's plans for Johnson's trilogy have been largely shelved or put on indefinite hold, with no official public statements connecting his departure to his work on 'Knives Out' or other projects.
Despite his departure from the Star Wars trilogy, Johnson expressed happiness with making his own projects but also stated that he would be open to returning to Star Wars if given the opportunity.
