These winter sports areas in Rhineland-Palatinate have opened - Rhineland-Palatinate’s ski slopes open as fresh snow arrives—with exceptions
Ski resorts across Rhineland-Palatinate have begun welcoming winter sports fans as fresh snowfall covers the slopes. While some areas are fully operational, others remain closed due to ongoing weather challenges.
The Schorrberg slopes in the Westerwald, run by the Bad Marienberg-Unnau Ski Club, are now open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. Both pistes, a T-bar lift, and a beginner’s lift are available, with conditions described as excellent thanks to natural snow.
Nearby, the Kirburg Ski Club’s lift in the Westerwald is operating from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends. The fresh snow has allowed these locations to start their winter season smoothly.
However, the Hohe Acht ski area in the High Eifel, managed by the Ski-Club Nürburg e.V., remains closed. The ski lift and slopes—including cross-country trails and a sledding hill—are still shut because of local weather conditions.
Several ski lifts and pistes in the region are now accessible, giving skiers and snowboarders more options for weekend outings. But visitors should check for updates, as some areas like Hohe Acht continue to face delays due to weather.
