Hey there! The vessel that got stuck on the Rhine near Bacharach was finally freed up on a Thursday afternoon. Part of its cargo was transferred to another ship, as per a spokesperson from the water police in Mainz. Consequently, the Rhine was once again open for ascent, albeit still shut down for descent. The authorities were working diligently to clear the traffic congestion on the Rhine, scheduled for resolution on the same Thursday.

The tanker, loaded with 3,000 tons of diesel, got stuck on Wednesday, according to Mainz water police. A portion of the ship was jutting out into the navigation channel, resulting in the Rhine's closure between Bingen and Kaub since Wednesday morning. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident. The police are still investigating the cause of the accident.

Extra Facts:

The tanker went aground due to a power failure or blackout that caused a loss of steering, leading to its inability to avoid the bridge nearby.

This unfortunate event took place in the Rhineland-Palatinate region, specifically near Bacharach. The water police in Mainz led the rescue operation, and the towed ship successfully returned to the Rhine's traffic stream, which had been impacted by the incident.
