Rheinberg KSB Wesel is recognizing and appreciating its volunteers
At Bürgerhaus Budberg, a solemn event took place to honour several volunteers who have made significant contributions to their respective clubs. The event was attended by dignitaries such as Frank Tatzel, chairman of the SSV Rheinberg, and Dietmar Heyde, the mayor of Rheinberg, among others.
Ulrich Glanz, deputy chairman of the KSB, presented the awards to the deserving volunteers. Clemens Brune, a long-standing member of SV Millingen, was one of the recipients. Brune, who has been the social secretary of the club since 2003, has shown exceptional dedication, organising first aid courses for trainers and coaches, and taking care of all the club's insurance matters.
Brune's impact on the club extends beyond insurance and safety. He played a leading role in converting two tennis courts into modern football small-fields with artificial turf and LED floodlights, and in upgrading the floodlight systems to modern LED technology in 2022 and 2024. Brune also initiated a driving safety training for club members, demonstrating his commitment to the club's well-being.
In addition to Brune, other volunteers were honoured for their dedication and impact. Christian Duda from Jahresring Budberg, Christina and Wilfried Wermes from KAB St. Peter Budberg, Franz Jansen and Erik Drees from Schützenverein Budberg were all recognised for their tireless efforts in supporting their clubs' activities and community engagement.
Two young volunteers, Aaron Jendro and Luca Simon, both from SV Millingen, received awards in the "young volunteer" category. Jendro and Simon have been members of the club since childhood and have been jointly responsible as trainers in the football youth department for the past three years.
Wilhelm Wens, a veteran member of BSV Eversael, also received a volunteer award. Wens, who has been a part of the club since 1970, is stepping down from the board after over five decades of active club work.
The award winners received an honorary certificate, a prize money of 100 euros each (donated by the Niederrheinische Sparkasse), and a gift from the Niederrhein-Westfälische Braumanufaktur. Clemens Brune, in his role as the first point of contact for the city of Rheinberg and the architectural office, was unanimously appointed for this task, further testifying to his commitment to the club.
The event served as a reminder of the vital role volunteers play in the success and continuity of local clubs, and a celebration of their dedication and selflessness.
Clemens Brune, in recognition of his significant contributions, was applauded for his efforts in enhancing the Lower Rhine's SV Millingen, especially his role in transforming tennis courts into modern football small-fields and upgrading floodlight systems. Brune's dedicated support extended to organizing sports-related training, such as first aid courses and driving safety classes, demonstrating his commitment to the club's sports activities.
