In a shocking discovery, a dead infant was found in a green area at Weichselplatz, Neukölln, on October 14, 2014. The infant, who was fully developed with no apparent malformations, was 57 cm tall and weighed 3200 g.

The infant was found packed in bags from the supermarket chains 'Lidl' and 'Edeka' and wrapped in a 120 x 55 cm green-yellow checked bath towel. The green plastic bag found with the infant was from the company 'Lidl' with the yellow print 'All for Fans'.

The Berlin Public Prosecutor's Office has set a reward of up to €5,000 for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrator(s). However, it is important to note that persons involved in the crime are excluded from receiving the reward. The reward is exclusively for members of the public, not for those whose professional duties include the pursuit of criminal offenses.

The 6th Homicide Commission of the State Criminal Police Office has taken over the further investigation. They are appealing for information regarding the towel, its source, and any women in the Weichselplatz area who were recently pregnant but now have no baby or could have concealed a pregnancy.

The commission is also seeking witnesses who know a woman in the Weichselplatz area who was pregnant until last week but now has no baby. They are also looking for witnesses who can make other statements about the origin of the baby or its mother.

Additionally, the commission is seeking witnesses who have made suspicious observations in the green area or seen people disposing of a green plastic bag in the past week.

A forensic medical examination will now clarify the cause of the baby's death. Further investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of death.

The infant will be buried anonymously on November 7, 2014, at 12:00 at the New St. Michael Cemetery, Gottlieb-Dunkel-Str. 29, 12099 Berlin-Tempelhof.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the 6th Homicide Commission of the State Criminal Police Office at Keithstraße 30 in 10787 Berlin-Tiergarten under the phone number (030) 4664-911 666 or any other police station.

As the investigation continues, the public is urged to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities or information that could aid in solving this case.
