McDonald's Hong Kong is marking its 50th anniversary with a special celebration, featuring a 10-minute micro-film and a public exhibition. The film, titled "My Taste of Hong Kong," is a nostalgic journey through the brand's history in the city, and the exhibition recreates the atmosphere of the first McDonald's restaurant that opened on Paterson Street in 1975.

The film, directed by a team of acclaimed filmmakers, tells the story from the perspective of Hong Kong's first McDonald's restaurant manager, "Manager Chu." It stars Hong Kong icon Nicholas Tse, who has a longstanding relationship with the brand, serving as brand ambassador and celebrity chef behind popular menu creations.

The film sets a historic benchmark for commercial video production in Hong Kong, with its authentic period decor, original store design, 1970s uniforms, and meticulously recreated packaging. It was created in collaboration with McDonald's and DDB Group Hong Kong, the creative partner for the 50th anniversary celebrations.

Following its TVB premiere, the film and shorter versions will be released across social media, along with behind-the-scenes footage and interviews. In addition, a public exhibition at Freespace in West Kowloon will recreate the original 1975 Paterson Street store, allowing Hong Kong people to personally experience McDonald's as it was 50 years ago from October 1st to 19th.

The exhibition does not feature Nicholas Tse as "Manager Chu" or a cast of over 300, including McDonald's employees. Instead, it offers a full sensory journey through McDonald's heritage in Hong Kong, featuring a nostalgic showcase of iconic toys, packaging, and other memorabilia from different eras.

Andreas Krasser, CEO of DDB Group Hong Kong, expresses that nostalgia is a powerful force in Hong Kong and the film is a way of honoring the shared history between McDonald's and the people of Hong Kong. Randy Lai, CEO of McDonald's Hong Kong, stated that the film serves as a reminder of the optimism, teamwork, and community bonds that have been at the heart of McDonald's since its beginning.

Starting from September 17, McDonald's will bring back the popular Bolognese and Fried Egg Angus Burger and other special menu items by Chef Nic (Nicolas Tse) as part of the "My Taste of Hong Kong" campaign. This campaign is a testament to McDonald's commitment to celebrating its rich history in Hong Kong and offering its customers a taste of nostalgia.
