ISTANBUL'S HOTTEST QUARREL
Revives the Classic Cinema Era of Yeşilçam through 'Adile'
The ensemble of "Adile", a brand new biopic chronicling the life of famed Turkish actress Adile Naşit alongside other Yeşilçam legends, gathered to chat with the press at Ses 1885 Theater in Istanbul on June 4.
Driven by the masterful direction of Çağan Irmak and the sharp script penned by Nermin Yıldırım, this movie seeks to resurrect the magic and essence of Yeşilçam cinema on the silver screen.
Meltem Kaptan, taking on the role of Adile Naşit, described her character as a deeply emotional experience. "Adile was more than just a bubbly screen persona; she was a warm woman brimming with heartfelt laughter and a quiet understanding. To embody that authentically has been a life-changing journey," Kaptan expressed.
The film showcases not only the on-screen lives of these esteemed actors but also sheds light on their personal lives, delving deeper into their everyday warmth and humanity, as opposed to merely glorifying their celebrity images.
Seda Bakan, portraying Müjde Ar, felt as though time had been turned back when working on the film, describing the atmosphere as akin to Yeşilçam's golden era. Bakan praised Kaptan's infectious energy and the amicable camaraderie that developed among the cast.
Tarık Ündüz, stepping into the shoes of Gazanfer Özcan, shared a heartfelt anecdote about wearing his grandfather's watch on set, which added an extra layer of sentiment and emotional depth to his performance.
Çetin Lale and Berkay Tulumbacı, experiencing the intensity of playing Tarık Akan and Kemal Sunal respectively, discussed the emotional burden of representing such iconic figures steeped in Turkish cultural memory.
Levent Can, cast as Münir Özkul, admitted to initial reservations about embodying the role, but he overcame them through the supportive guidance of Irmak and the dedicated team.
The movie aims to breathe new life into the Yeşilçam spirit, emphasizing camaraderie, friendship, and the humanity that defined this beloved era of Turkish cinema.
As Bülent Seyran, playing Adile’s brother Selim Naşit, explained, the focus was on revealing the personal aspects of these legends rather than simply showcasing their on-screen personas.
Behind the scenes, there's a palpable sense of deep affection and respect for the Yeşilçam era and its influential figures[2]. Irmak and Yıldırım's collaboration successfully preserves the essence and warmth that made Yeşilçam cinema timeless and captivating.
The ensemble, discussing their roles in the upcoming "Adile" biopic, shared their experiences, highlighting the Movie-and-TV production as an Entertainment project that delves deep into the personal lives of the Yeşilçam legends, focusing on their warmth and humanity. The cast members spoke of the entertaining and moving atmosphere on set, which brought back memories of Yeşilçam's golden era, infusing the new production with the same camaraderie, friendship, and authentic spirit that defined the timeless and captivating essence of Yeşilçam cinema.
