Get ready to take a step back in time! This May, travel back to the tumultuous year of 1525 and witness the reenactment of the Peasants' War, marking its 500th anniversary. The Friends of Yore association has faithfully recreated the historic procession from Mühlhausen to Bad Frankenhausen, transforming the streets into a living, breathing testament to the past.

planning lasted a painstaking year, ensuring every detail of this 70-kilometer journey harkens back to the rebellious peasants' march of old. Dressed in period costumes, around 50 participants will traverse the route on foot, accompanied by horse and cattle teams, as if marching into battle.

As they venture through authentic villages and preserved medieval landscapes, more participants from near and far will flock to join the peasant's procession. By the weekend, it's expected the march will number 300 strong, mirroring the original rebellion led by Thomas Müntzer.

On Saturday, a peasant camp with a campfire will be lit on the monastery grounds in Göllingen—a warming glow reminiscent of solidarity and camaraderie during turbulent times. By Sunday afternoon, the reenacted peasant army will arrive in Bad Frankenhausen, gathering for a powerful historical formation before their arrival at the castle meadow below the regional museum.
