Revised guidelines for public assistance
In the world of public funding, changes are on the horizon. From 2026, new rules will apply to funding at lower levels, impacting both recipients and providers of such funding.
These changes are being introduced by the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Federal Ministry of the Interior in Germany, as they oversee the country's financial and administrative regulations related to public funding distribution.
If you're already a subscriber, you can log in by clicking on "Log In". For those who are not, a subscription is available for 96 euros per year, inclusive of VAT. It's important to note that the subscription cost does not provide details about the benefits or features of the subscription, nor does it specify the duration of the subscription period. However, there is an option to request special conditions for the subscription by clicking on "Request Offer Now".
De-minimis aid, a type of funding that does not exceed the threshold of 300,000 euros within three consecutive years, is also subject to these changes. The threshold for de-minimis aid is mandated by an EU regulation, and its registration in a transparency register is a requirement.
The new rules will bring about additional administrative tasks for municipalities and other public actors acting as funders. The additional burden is expected due to these new regulations.
It's worth noting that if the funding does not surpass 300,000 euros in three consecutive years, the threshold for de-minimis aid is not exceeded, and it does not need to be registered in the transparency register.
However, from 2026, even de-minimis aid will be subject to these new rules. This means that municipalities and other public actors will need to be prepared for increased administrative tasks related to the management and reporting of such funding.
For those interested in learning more about these changes, it's recommended to keep an eye on updates from the relevant ministries and to consider subscribing to a service that provides detailed information on this and other related topics.
