Revenge-driven alleged attempt at homicide
A Bitter Vengeance Trial Begins
Monday (9:30 AM) marks the start of a trial at the Regional Court of Münster, centered around an alleged act of vengeance. In December 2024, shots echoed through the parking lot of a discount store in Ahlen, a chilling repercussion of a past tragedy. The 69-year-old defendant, accused of seeking revenge, is now standing trial.
Tragedy struck in December 2020, when the defendant's 34-year-old son was brutally taken from him on a street in Ahlen. Despite suspicion, the investigation into his untimely demise came to a standstill and was formally discontinued in the summer of 2024.
Backshots and Confrontations
According to the prosecution, the victimized 69-year-old and his family were left shattered by the lack of resolution concerning their son's death. The father, consumed by suspicion, turned his focus on the neighboring family, believing them responsible. Investigations were also initiated against several members of this family, but no concrete evidence was found to support these allegations, as stated in an earlier statement from the prosecution.
On the fateful day in Ahlen, it's alleged that the 69-year-old gunned down his 38-year-old neighbor in the back, leaving him grievously hurt. Next, he pointed the weapon at the head of the neighbor's 63-year-old mother. Thankfully, two misfires saved her life. During a fierce struggle, the accused is said to have struck the woman on the head, but was eventually overpowered.
Prior to the trial, the 69-year-old has remained silent on the accusations leveled against him.
The Regional Court has scheduled eleven trial dates extending until September.
