Revel in the spirit of 'Har Ghar Tiranga', preserving the holiness of the tricolor: as stated by Shekhawat
The nation is gearing up for the fourth edition of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, a nationwide initiative encouraging citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes, offices, and public places. The campaign, which will run from August 12 to August 15, will culminate on Independence Day.
The Ministry of Culture, under the leadership of Union Culture Secretary Vivek Aggarwal, has taken several measures to ensure the respect and sanctity of the national flag during this campaign.
Official guidelines and awareness have been issued, emphasizing the need to uphold the "respect and sanctity" of the flag. Local government officials are involved in mobilizing people to participate respectfully in the campaign. Official flag distribution points have been established at post offices, fair price shops, gram panchayats, and other public places to ensure that citizens use the proper flag that conforms to prescribed standards.
Public events and rallies are being organized by district administrations and government officials to promote patriotic sentiment and a collective display of respect for the flag. Schools are actively involving students in activities designed to instill patriotism and respect for the flag among children.
Digital engagement is also a key part of the campaign. Citizens are encouraged to take photos of their flag-hoisting at home and upload them on the official Har Ghar Tiranga website, promoting awareness and collective responsibility towards the flag. People are also asked to upload "selfies with Tiranga" as part of the campaign.
The campaign is not just about flag hoisting, but also about reinforcing the national flag’s significance as a symbol of freedom, unity, and cultural heritage. The importance of maintaining the national flag's "respect and sanctity" has been emphasized by Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
In addition to the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, other events are planned. A Tiranga Bike Rally will be held on August 12 from Bharat Madapam to the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. A Tiranga Concert will be held in Delhi on August 13, featuring singer Shaan. School students are sending 'rakhis' and letters to Army personnel as part of the campaign, in a nod to Operation Sindoor.
August 14 will be marked as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day with exhibitions and silent marches in Delhi and Kolkata. The Archaeological Survey of India has shared images of several monuments lit up in a tricolor theme, including the Konark Sun Temple in Odisha, Chandragiri Fort in Andhra Pradesh, Gunavati Group of Temples in Tripura, and the Agra Fort.
