Returning Soon: Not Going Out, Yet Regrettably Lacking Four of Its Most Captivating Characters
You know what's back on our screens this June? Lee Mack's popular BBC comedy, "Not Going Out" - but it's missing four of its freaking stellar characters!
Yep, it's official - Hugh Dennis and Abigail Cruttenden won't be reprising their roles as Lee and Lucy's mates Toby and Anna. Toby, in particular, was a mainstay, appearing in over 40 episodes and often causing trouble alongside Lee. Snobby Anna, on the other hand, was a fabulous foil, and the chemistry between the four - Toby, Anna, Lee, and Lucy (Sally Bretton) - was off the charts, especially in the legendary "Hot Tub" episode (season 8, episode 4).
Even more shocking, Lucy's parents - Deborah Grant as Wendy and Geoffrey Whitehead as Geoffrey - won't be making an appearance in this six-part run. Both have been in over 30 episodes and brought plenty of laughs. From Geoffrey clickingly controlling Spanish dolls to Lee setting fire to Geoffrey's lawn, these characters added some serious comedic gold to the series.
It's a bold move from Lee Mack to drop four of the show's favourite characters. It's like Sir Humphrey Appleby from Yes, Prime Minister would say - "a courageous decision."

Can "Not Going Out" survive without them?
Well, "Not Going Out" has weathered some high-profile exits before, such as Tim Vine leaving as Tim and Katy Wix's departure as Daisy. So let's hope the new series pulls off the same trick!
The new season is leaning more on weekly guest stars, including Felicity Montagu from Beyond Paradise as Yvonne in episode 3, "Campervan," who spills her darkest secrets to Lee and Lucy. The X Factor's Diana Vickers also joins the cast as Ava in episode 6, "Hotel Room."
"Not Going Out" is slated to air on BBC One on June 13 at 9 pm. All episodes will be available as a box set on BBC iPlayer from June 13. Let's see if the show can pull through without its fan-favourite characters!
