Title: Delighted to Return Home: Israelis Flight Back from Iran Conflict
With Relief, 171 Germans Return to Germany After Being Stranded in Israel
Returning Individuals Find Relief After Leaving Israel
Israel has arranged special flights for Germans stranded in the war-torn Israel amidst the escalating conflict with Iran.Touching down in Frankfurt am Main, these returning citizens shared a sense of gratitude along with a lingering concern for their stranded friends.
Home Finally: A Mixed Emotion
A total of 171 German travelers finally touched German soil after an anxious wait, as a result of a special flight organized by Israel. As the plane landed in the evening, a wave of relief washed over those who had been stuck in Tel Aviv for days.
"Fear slowly subsiding," Lionel Reich summed up his experience upon arriving, recounting days of tension in Tel Aviv. He spoke of sleepless nights filled with air-raid alarms, as well as the heart-wrenching reality of friends whose apartments had been destroyed. Despite his relief, Lionel remains concerned about his friends' safety.
Mixed Feelings Toward the Federal Government
Daniel Halav echoed similar sentiments, expressing immense happiness to be home but also expressing criticism towards the German government. He felt abandoned by the authorities, who were slow in organizing evacuation options. "I think we pay taxes for the government to take care of us," he said.
Others described their journey to Amman as adventurous, but criticized the short notice provided before the evacuation. As Israel continues its military operations against Iran and Iranian shelling persists, airspace remains restricted, affecting flight departure options.
A Continuing Saga
Despite the fully-booked special flight for this Thursday, the Foreign Office has announced plans for another flight in the works. The ministry encourages Germans to register on the crisis preparedness list Elefand for updates, as over 4000 Germans are currently in Israel, with over 1000 registrations coming from Iran.
Politics
While the details of the German government's involvement in the special flights remain somewhat unclear, Israel's initiative, supported by Germany's current political alignment with Israel, marks a collaboration to aid German citizens amid the ongoing conflict. [Sources: ntv.de, mau/dpa]
