Tiago Tomás Returns to VfB Stuttgart on Permanent Basis

After a successful loan spell with VfB Stuttgart during the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, Portuguese striker Tiago Tomás has officially returned to the club on a permanent transfer from VfL Wolfsburg.

The transfer fee paid by Stuttgart to Wolfsburg is reported to be €11 million upfront with an additional €2 million in potential add-ons, totaling €13 million. This transfer fee is approximately €1 million above Tiago Tomás's market value.

Sporting director Christian Gentner praised Tiago Tomás for his speed, dribbling, and technical skills, noting his fit with Stuttgart’s playing style and positive personality which will help him integrate quickly into the squad. Tiago Tomás himself expressed happiness about his return and eagerness to contribute to the club’s success, acknowledging Stuttgart’s development since his first spell there.

During his time at Wolfsburg, Tiago Tomás played 32 Bundesliga matches, scoring six goals and providing one assist. In total, he made 65 appearances with nine goals and six assists during his two years at the club. Tiago Tomás's previous loan period with Stuttgart ended after securing their place in the league in the relegation play-offs. His medical check is scheduled for this weekend, and the transfer is reportedly confirmed by Sky.

The 23-year-old striker, who is a DFB Cup winner, is expected to add versatility and creativity to Stuttgart’s attack. VfB Stuttgart is still looking for reinforcements in attack, and Tiago Tomás's return is seen as a significant step in strengthening the offensive options of the team.

Tiago Tomás emotionally bid farewell to Stuttgart in the past, stating "You believed in me when no one else did." His return to the club marks his return to a familiar environment where he is expected to make a positive impact on the team.
