Return of Dubai's Esports Tournament Offers Prize Pool of 200,000 United Arab Emirates Dirhams
The fifth edition of the Dubai Police Esports Tournament took place from August 14 to 17, 2025, at the Dubai Police Officers Club in Al Jaddaf. This year's event attracted over 1,500 participants aged 10 to 35 from various nationalities, including international players.
The tournament featured eight games: Valorant, DOTA 2, EAFC 25 (singles), Counter Strike 2, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Dubai Police Game Jam, and a Capture The Flag contest. With a total prize pool of AED 200,000 spread among the winners, the competition promised excitement and rewards for the participants.
One of the tournament’s key objectives was to promote online safety and raise awareness about the risks associated with gaming, especially cybercrimes. An opening session for players’ families emphasized safe gaming behaviors, such as being cautious with strangers, not sharing personal information or photos online, and maintaining a balance between gaming and physical activities.
The Dubai Police highlighted the "Ecrime" platform, an online portal (https://ecrimehub.gov.ae/ar) for reporting cybercrime and accessing tips on protecting oneself from online threats. This initiative underscores the tournament's commitment to ensuring a safe and secure gaming environment for all participants.
Notable attendees at the press conference included Rashid Mohammed Abdullah, Head of Events Planning and Execution at the Dubai Sports Council, Mona Al Falasi, Director of Esports and Strategy at the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, Major Abdullah Al Shehhi, Director of the Cybercrime Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation, and professional players such as Shaima Al Mansouri, Dr. Arshiya Farghath, and Lady Lillith.
The Dubai Police Esports Tournament aims to further establish Dubai as a regional hub for competitive esports, while also promoting a balanced approach to gaming. The event's focus on cybercrime awareness and online safety education for participants and their families is a testament to the organization's commitment to fostering a responsible and secure gaming community.
