Return of Brighton-bound lioness Agyemang on loan agreement
Michelle Agyemang Returns to Brighton on Loan from Arsenal
Michelle Agyemang, the young forward for the England women's national football team, will be playing the 2025-26 Women's Super League (WSL) season on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion. This marks her second loan spell at Brighton, following a successful first year where she scored five goals in 22 appearances across all competitions.
Agyemang, who joined Arsenal's academy at the age of six and finished as their top U21 goalscorer in the 2022-23 season, faces stiff competition for game time in Arsenal's WSL squad. Her loan move to Brighton will provide her with regular top-flight game time to aid her progression.
At Brighton, Agyemang is expected to be a key attacking player, given her impact during her first loan spell and her productive minutes there. Her return is expected to strengthen Brighton's forward line, while Arsenal will monitor her development and potentially use her as a key asset in future seasons.
Brighton head coach Dario Vidosic expressed his excitement about Agyemang's return, praising her character, work ethic, and relentless nature. He also acknowledged her incredible achievements with England during the summer, including scoring vital late equalisers against Sweden and Italy in the knockout stages of a competition.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of Olivia Smith, a forward who was recently signed from Liverpool for a world record £1 million ($1.4 million) fee for a female player. The new WSL season is scheduled to begin on September 5, and both Arsenal and Brighton will be eager to make their mark.
