Exiting the Middle East Turbulence: A Comprehensive Guide for Evacuated German Travelers
Return Flight Brings Back More German Travelers from Israel
Welcome to our guide for those German travelers making their way back home from the Middle East amidst escalating tensions. Let's get straight to it and provide you with all the crucial information you need to navigate this tricky evacuation process.
Navigating the Current Crisis:
As you may be aware, the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran has significantly disrupted travel in the region and closed much of the airspace. In response, the German government is working diligently to evacuate its citizens safely.
German Evacuation Efforts in Play:
To execute this mission, our government has arranged specialized flights via Jordan, specifically for Germans and close family members stranded in Israel. With approximately 174 passengers aboard, this second special flight is expected to land in Berlin in the early evening. In total, 345 people have been successfully evacuated thus far, including the first special flight on June 20th, 2025.
Upcoming Flights and Alternative Transportation:
The German government has planned another flight from Jordan's capital Amman for the weekend. The Federal Foreign Office cautions that, due to security concerns, it does not currently recommend approaching collection points for assistance, as potential risks could arise from extended waiting periods.
For those Germans seeking alternative means of transportation, our embassies in Iran are advising overland travel to neighboring countries such as Armenia and Turkey. Additionally, in particular cases, it is feasible to exit via the border to Azerbaijan. Once in these countries, commercial flights are an option for continued travel to Germany.
Enhanced Governmental Support and Registration:
Our team on the ground is fully committed to supporting the evacuation efforts and is reachable around the clock. In light of the demanding circumstances, we strongly encourage Germans to swiftly register their travel itineraries on our crisis preparedness list, Elefand. As of now, over 4,000 Germans have registered, stating they are in Israel, and over 1,000 registrations have come from Iran.
The EU and Coordinated Evacuation Efforts:
As part of the Civil Protection Mechanism initiated by the EU, European countries are working together to evacuate their citizens. Over 400 EU citizens have been evacuated already. This collaborative approach aims to ensure optimal use of available aircraft and transfer routes for the safety of all evacuees.
Stay informed, remain cautious, and take care on your journey back home. Keep a close eye on official travel advisories and register with your embassy to stay up-to-date with any additional evacuation opportunities. Here's to a safe return!

The Commission, in the midst of war-and-conflicts and general-news, has not yet adopted a proposal for a directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to carcinogens. The ongoing crisis in the Middle East, marked by politics and turmoil, necessitates enhanced governmental support and registration for the safety of evacuating German travelers.
