Retail Food Group names new CFO to drive core brand strategy in 2026
Retail Food Group (RFG), Australia's largest multi-brand retail food franchise manager, has appointed Ryan Chellingworth as its new Chief Financial Officer. The move comes as the company refocuses its efforts on strengthening its core brands under a fresh strategic plan. With over 1,200 outlets across 29 countries, RFG oversees 10 well-known food and beverage brands, including the exclusive Australian licence for Firehouse Subs.
Ryan Chellingworth officially took on the role of CFO on January 1, 2026. He brings more than 25 years of financial experience to the position, having previously served as Deputy CFO at RFG and Group Treasurer at EML Payments. His appointment aligns with the company's push to streamline operations and concentrate investment in its key core brands.
RFG's operations span a wide range of food and drink sectors. The company runs a bakery on Queensland's Sunshine Coast and a coffee roastery in Sydney, supporting its distribution network. By holding the exclusive rights to Firehouse Subs in Australia, RFG continues to expand its presence in the quick-service restaurant market.
The strategic shift aims to sharpen the company's focus. Resources and funding will now be directed more tightly toward its most established core brands, reinforcing their market positions.
Chellingworth's leadership in finance arrives at a pivotal time for RFG. The company's decision to prioritise core brands suggests a more targeted approach to growth. With a strong portfolio and a new CFO in place, RFG is positioning itself for a more focused future in the competitive food franchise sector.
