Resume search for missing girl in the River Thames

In the midst of an ongoing ordeal, emergency services have been diligently searching the River Thames in Kent, UK, following reports of a girl missing.

Over the weekend, events unfolded as the Port of London Authority alerted Kent Police around 1:46 PM on Friday about two children entering the river near the Royal Terrace Pier in Gravesend. Given the urgent situation, multiple authorities sprang into action, including Kent Police, H.M. Coastguard, the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI), and the South East Coast Ambulance Service.

The search operations continued into Saturday morning, with the focus on the water and riverbank near Gravesend. Tragically, at around 11:40 AM on Saturday, a body was recovered from the river with the assistance of the RNLI. The identity of the individual has been confirmed following formal identification by the next of kin.

Although the circumstances around the girl's death are currently non-suspicious, formal investigations will be conducted as per standard protocols, with a report being prepared for the coroner. Meanwhile, the boy who was rescued has been admitted to a local hospital, and his condition remains stable.
