Restricting access for foreign day-trippers at non-hotel Swiss open-air bathing locations
The picturesque municipality of Pruntrut, located in the canton of Jura near the French border, has implemented restrictions at its small public swimming pool. The restrictions, announced by the local authorities on Friday, are aimed at ensuring the safety and maintaining a calm, respectful, and safe environment for visitors.
The swimming pool, a popular summer destination for both locals and tourists, has restricted access to Swiss residents and tourists with a special permit. The measure is primarily aimed at visitors from nearby France, as the municipality seeks to manage the number of visitors and allocate resources effectively during the peak summer months.
The restrictions, which will remain in place until the end of August, do not apply to all foreign tourists. Those staying in a hotel or campsite in the region can still visit the swimming pool with a issued card. The pool is reserved for Swiss citizens and persons with a residence or work permit in Switzerland.
These restrictions come as a response to more than twenty instances of inappropriate and rude behaviour, as well as non-compliance with swimming pool rules, since the beginning of the summer season. The municipality hopes that these measures will help create a more enjoyable and safe experience for all visitors.
The Pruntrut swimming pool, with its stunning views and refreshing waters, remains a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The restrictions, while limiting access for some, are aimed at ensuring that the pool can continue to serve the community in a safe and enjoyable manner throughout the summer months.
The Saint-Ursanne pool, which offers breathtaking views and cool waters, is open solely to Swiss citizens, residents, and tourists holding a special permit, in an attempt to control the number of visitors during the busy summer season. Despite the restrictions, foreign tourists staying in hotels or campsites in the region can still visit the pool with an issued card.
